The Princess Bride (1987)

Come along early from 2.30pm for free 'Princess Bride' arts and crafts activities before the film

Truly a classic, ‘The Princess Bride' combines fairytale romance, swashbuckling action and comedy into an unforgettable – and immensely quotable! – story. And did you know: it features what is regarded by many as the best sword fight in movie history, which required months of gruelling training for the actors involved!

Directed by Rob Reiner and adapted by William Goldman from his 1973 novel, it tells the story of farmhand Westley (Cary Elwes) who, along with his mismatched band of adventurers, must rescue his true love Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright Penn) from the odious Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). The film also stars Mandy Patinkin, Billy Crystal and Wallace Shawn.

Screening as part of Art of Action, a UK-wide film season supported by National Lottery and BFI-Film Audience Network.
